The idea for this cozy mystery is a very new idea to me Pamela is a PHD who teaches at a college and she has helped the police in the past Her specialty is interpreting audio information and determining facts with her expertiseIn this case she has been asked to help solve a murder that was heard on a late night radio show A disc jockey playing alternative music was on the air many people were listening and while on the air the disc jockey is murdered Pamela s husband Rocky is also an instructor at the college her daughter is a student and all her friends are involved in education We meet secondary characters who add layers to the story by introducing aspects of college life personal lives and generally the human activity that goes on whether there has been a murder or notSince Rocky is a good cook we get descriptions of lovely meals and we also get a couple of recipes Pamela is a very focused individual and she appears to live her life without always connecting to her family I was a little surprised at the manner in which she simply goes about her sleuthing without letting her husband know what is happening That may be because he worries about her safety when she is solving murdersThis is a good mystery and the solution is different from the sort of formulaic solutions found in some coziesThe technology needed to solve the murder and interpret the sounds on a recording was very interesting The reader learns a great deal and at the same time we are following the steps to solve the murder of someone who appears to be an innocuous music lover who wants to share his love of alt music with othersGood story interesting characters and all in all surprising solution to murderI received a copy of this book from the author in the hope that Ii would give a fair and honest review All thoughts in this review are my own

In FM For Murder by Patricia Rockwell the 2nd book in the Pamela Barnes series a murder has Pamela back to work in this acoustic mystery In the early hours of morning a local deejay is shot to death on air Unfortunately the police have no leads on who the shooter is Hundreds of miles away the son of a terminally ill carpet manufacturer is keeping a secret that connects him to this baffling crime With the help of her husband co workers and students will Pamela be able to piece together a detailed puzzle that seems impossible to solve Will justice be served or will the killer remain at large the shooting an unsolved mystery I am a fan of Patricia Rockwell s writing and have been since reading her first book in this series I m also especially fond of series books as to I become attached to the characters Patricia has a way of bringing the characters to life and drawing her readers into her stories Another bonus that I particularly appreciate is a segment at the end of the book titled Rocky s Recipes where Patricia shares recipes that were mentioned in the book Patricia writes cozy mysteries meaning that you ll want to cuddle up with this book for a relaxing read That s exactly what I did I read this book from start to finish in one day It was a page turner that I had a hard time sitting down I ll be reading Voice Mail Murder next I can t get enoughI would recommend this book to anyone who appreciates a good mystery minus the chilling thrillers and gore I m not fond of eerie books and steer clear of most mystery genre books Patricia Rockwell s writing was a pleasant surprise and a welcome read Even those with the mildest of tolerance can finally sit down with a mystery that they will enjoy
