What a fantastic horror novel this is I devoured this book no matter how creepy or chilled I felt I just kept going I had to know what was going to happen This is my first book I have read of JD Barker but it will not be my last absolutely exceptional writing When horror author Thad McAlister began his latest novel a tale rooted in the witch trials of centuries past the words flowed effortlessly The story poured forth filling page after page with the most frightening character ever to crawl from his imagination It was his greatest work one that would guarantee him a position among the legends of the craftBut was it really fictionHe inadvertently opened a door one that would soon jeopardize the lives of his familyShe wants to come backAt home his wife struggles to keep their family alive Secretly wondering if she caused it alla deal she made long ago A deal with the ForsakenAre you ready to be scaredThe book that Thad is writing is supposed to be fiction we get insights into what he is writing in the book it essentially tells the tale of witchcraft long ago The doorway from that side to this one opens in his home and his life and things are never going to be the same again It s creepy scary terrifying and disturbing I had moments of sheer edge of my seat terror visualising what the family were going through It doesn t take long before strange and ugly nasty things start happening in the McAlister home The dark has been unleashed and it is coming for what was promised to itThe book is atmospheric and wonderfully dark and spooky we get a taste of evil creatures strange growths witchcraft curses evil all because of a promise made that changed everything Just a stunning horror novel that had me hooked in and on board for the entirety of this book I could SMELL the rotten meaty rank evil smells in the home Urgh Are we sure this was not a scratch n sniff bookThe pace is fast and the tension is awesome from early in the book it just does not stop it gets better and better the imagination of the author is on display and it s totally fantastic You will feel everything the characters do I found it to be a book of depth with sophisticated characters and a really strong plot Plenty of heart stopping scary moments in this bookI loved loved loved the build up to the ending of this book it was so fantastic my eyes were popping out of my head and I was holding my breath My God It was so good Better than I could have hoped for I don t want to give too much away from the clever plot but if you love horror or even just like books that take you to the dark side for a while don t hesitate on getting this one beg borrow but don t steal it It s worth it I loved it Rave over 5 easy peasy stars I received a copy of this novel from the author and the publisher in exchange for a fair and honest review it was a book I had wanted to read so it was fantastic to be able to review it many thanks

Forsaken By JD Barker was awesome was a little slow at the beginning but once it got into the storyline it drew me in from beginning to end This is a dark horror book delving into witch craft the unknown JD Barker wrote the complete horror story he is up there with Stephen KIng Dean KoontzThad MCallister is a too bit author who is going nowhere until he writes a best seller suddenly he is taken over by the journal IS IT HIM WRITING IT OR SOME FORCE CONTROLLING HIMHis world seems to be going into another time his wife Rachael is pregnant is the baby possessed by a witch from there the novel explodes into the darkness of witchcraft Thad becomes obsessed with the journal takes him into the darkest places to Shadow CoveI wont go any further as i may give spoilers away but the ending was brilliant not what i was expecting cannot wait for the second in the series 5 s
